I grew up in Rosolini, in the south-east corner of Sicily. My room was where I took things apart to see how they worked, and the first thing I really built from scratch was my own PC, piece by piece.
Away from the desk: fitness, strategy games, a bit of programming and an honest obsession with productivity.

During university I started a small e-commerce brand selling traditional Sicilian products, mostly almond-based. I designed the website and the social pages, set up the marketing and handled the B2C sales myself: my first time running a business end to end, from the product to the customer.

Diploma in hand, and before leaving for the other end of Italy, I spent the summer as logistics coordinator in Syracuse: organising food distribution for a municipal service, checking that quality and procedures were respected, and solving problems as they came up along the way.

1,500 km north of home, from the Mediterranean to the Alps. I chose Business Management because I wanted to understand how a company really works, starting from its numbers.
The core of my degree: corporate finance, accounting under both Italian (OIC) and international (IAS/IFRS) standards, private and commercial law. In the Financial Planning Lab I built historical and forecast analyses of the three financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement) together with a cash budget.
Outside lectures I was an active member of an economic analysis and discussion group, a place to analyse and debate economic topics beyond the syllabus.

My first job inside a large company, and one of Italy's best-known sparkling wine houses. I joined the accounts payable team, where every supplier invoice has to be right before anything gets paid.
Day to day I checked supplier invoices, registered them electronically and routed each expense to the right allocation and approval flow. I also reconciled warehouse purchases with the general ledger and kept payee records in order.
A summer on the Adriatic coast, this time on the other side of the numbers: a law and accounting firm working on mergers and acquisitions.
I analysed and drafted financial statements and reports, supported the legal documentation behind the deals, from share purchase agreements (SPA) to shareholders' agreements (SHA), and helped value companies with DCF and market multiples.
